3rd Aitchison Junior Satellite International Squash Championship 2025

The 3rd Aitchison Junior Satellite International Squash Championship 2025 was held at Aitchison in collaboration with the Pakistan Squash Federation.  There were two categories U/19 and U/11 with a draw of thirty-two players in each. It was quite a gruelling and fiercely contested championship in both categories. The players hailing from all over Pakistan exhibited deft Squash craftsmanship. Four boys represented Aitchison College and performed very well.

The final of the tournament was witnessed by our old boys and the members of the Pakistan Squash Federation. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Mr. Hamesh Khan, an old Aitchisonian who along with our worthy Principal distributed medals, trophies and shields among the participants and our Aitchison College Management. The Sports Department deserves full credit for successfully arranging such a huge event.  The following were the winners:

Prep School Annual Math Exhibition

The 4th  Annual Math Exhibition was held on Friday, January 17, 2025. It exceeded all expectations and reaffirmed Mathematics’ universal appeal. The event provided an exceptional platform for our students to explore and present their knowledge, transforming abstract Mathematical Concepts into engaging and tangible experiences. From visually captivating displays to hands-on interactive activities, the exhibition brought the Prep School venue to life, immersing students, teachers, and parents in the beauty and relevance of Mathematics. Highlights of the event included innovative projects such as the Sundial, Mathematical Magic Tricks, Napier Bone, Pythagorean Theorem with Trigonometry Park, Life-Sized Calculator, Mathematics on Pyramids of Giza and Leaning Tower of Pisa, Aitchison Railways, Fizz Buzz Frenzy, Big Ben Architectural Model, Hydraulic Marble Roller Coaster, Sierpinski Triangle, 3D Tessellation with Origami, and many more, each illustrating real-world applications and igniting curiosity.

More than just an academic showcase, the exhibition emphasised teamwork, problem-solving, and confidence-building among students. Designed to make mathematics accessible and enjoyable.  The exhibition created an environment where young minds could visualise and grasp complex concepts easily. The event celebrated not only the ingenuity of the participants but also the power of Mathematics to inspire creativity and collaboration.

Senior School Urdu Declamation

The Inter-House Urdu Declamation was held on Thursday, the 16th of January, 2025. Students from all Senior School Houses participated in this competition showcasing their oratory talents, while celebrating the richness of Urdu language. They passionately delivered speeches on thought-provoking topics, captivating the audience with their eloquence, confidence, and command over the language. Esteemed Judges evaluated the participants on their contest and speaking skills.

Walter A. Robinson Challenge Cup for Cross Country Race, Present and Old Boys 2024-25 was held on Sunday 19th January 2025. The participants as per traditions were in phenomenal spirit and immense enthusiasm. Around one hundred-and-seventy present Aitchison College boys took part in the race.  The Under-35 Category was represented by seven participants, eleven old Aitchisonians turned out to be in the 35-45 Age Category, ten were in the 46-55 Age Category and seven filled in the Over-55 Category.

Our student Salar Saad Khan showed a flawless running exhibition and broke the record by completing the Cross Country Route in 36 Min 11.80 Sec. In the 35-45 Age Group Shehrez Khan broke the record. Even the Old Boys in their respective categories burnt the grunt showing stamina and strength. The spectators backed all contestants making the atmosphere quite euphoric.

In the end, our worthy Principal S.M Turab Hussain, Ms Amina Kamran, HMSS, Mr Khalid Noon, the Bursar and Mr Umer Zaman, Games Master and Head of Sports, distributed medals, trophies and souvenirs among the position holders.

Reap thy Reward

The General Assembly is one of the most significant events at Aitchison. The last General Assembly was held on 17th January 2025. Boys of three schools in full winter uniform, well-gowned staff, proud parents, and a table laden with prizes, medals, blazers, and trophies sent joyous vibes. Students who fared exceptionally well in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities were given away prizes by the worthy Principal S.M. Turab Hussain, who, later in his speech, paid rich tribute to the winners and those who got early admissions to the top global universities. Such accomplishments typify our College's rich ethos. It was an occasion to cherish forever.

Aitchisonians Power Through JC Lindsay Scottish Squash Tournament

The JC Lindsay Scottish Junior Open is one of the most prestigious squash competitions in the world.  This competition was held in December, Edinburgh, Scotland. This is a major competition on the junior calendar, attracting hundreds of top junior players from all over the world. It is a matter of immense pride for us all that one of our students, Sakhi Ullah Khan Tareen did extremely well. He breezed into the semi-finals, losing to Oliver Denver from New Zealand who was the eventual winner in the U/19 Category. It was a hard-fought match in which Sakhi Ullah Khan Tareen exhibited undying resilience and craftsmanship. He finally secured third place in the aforementioned category.

In the U/13 Category, our student Syed Muhammad Hussaim reached the quarter-final, but lost to Sohal Adnan from Pakistan.  Sohal is the top seed in the category and was the ultimate winner.  All appreciation to our boys, who displayed perpetual grit and technique by securing the 5th position in such a prestigious tournament. We wish our budding squash players the very best in their future endeavours.

Aitchisonians Shine in Global Robotic Competition

The World Robotics Olympiad (WRO) 2024, a global platform for students to explore the fascinating world of robotics, was held in the vibrant city of Izmir, Turkey from 28th to 30th November 2024. Aitchison College, the Prep School represented Pakistan at the global level.  A team consisting of Aahil Saleem Nasir, Ammar Samie, and Arfeen Aman, participated in the Junior Category and achieved a remarkable feat by securing the Bronze Medal. This achievement highlights their exceptional skills and dedication and marks a significant milestone for Pakistan on the global robotics stage.

After the competition, the team had the opportunity to explore the historic and cultural wonders of Istanbul. From the breathtaking views of the Bosporus to the grandeur of the Hagia Sophia and bustling bazaars, the experience provided them with a perfect blend of learning and leisure. The days spent exploring Istanbul allowed the team to bond together, reflect on their achievements, and immerse themselves in the rich heritage of Turkey.

The WRO 2024 proved to be more than just a competition for our students. It was an unforgettable journey of discovery, perseverance, and cultural exchange. Their bronze medal victory stands as a testament to the potential of young Pakistanis in the field of robotics and inspires future generations to aim higher on such international platforms.

 

Space: The Final Frontier - Senior School Aerospace Enterprise

The Aitchison College Science Society, as part of the Aitchison College Student Space Initiative, is currently experimenting with developing its indigenous rocket motor. Designed and fabricated entirely in Pakistan, this project aims to push the boundaries of local innovation in aerospace science. The motor is being crafted using locally sourced materials and tailored designs, to produce efficient thrust. While still in its experimental phase, initial tests have shown promising results.

This endeavour reflects the society’s commitment to hands-on learning and advancing scientific understanding in Pakistan.

The Prep School Annual Book Fair

The Annual Book Exhibition has become a significant event in the Preparatory School Calendar. It attracts the best Publishers and Booksellers to participate.  The exhibition allows our students to see the books of the leading world-renowned publishers on display and purchase books of their choice at a good discount.  On November 5th and 6th  2024, the Annual Book Fair was arranged in Shamim Khan Hall.  Our students loved it immensely.
