Waiting for the Sun - Prep School Annual English Play

And then.  “The sun came out.  It was the colour of flaming bronze and it was very large. And the sky around it was a blazing blue tile colour. And the jungle burned with sunlight as the children, released from their spell, rushed out, yelling into the springtime…” All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury

On 31st January 2025, the students of Prep School staged their annual English play 'All Summer in a Day’ adapted from a famous short story by Ray Bradbury. The short story is part of our E2 English literature. Based on the futurist theme, when human beings disconnected from Mother Nature will march to other planets for their very existence. The setting of the play is the planet Venus and life there is forever raining.  In this perpetual moist world, nobody imagines the rainbow of the sun, but Margot, who is a young girl. She vividly remembers the sun from her time on Earth, unlike the other children. Her dream one day comes true.

Our students exhibited stunning performance on the stage.  Their true passion for theatre with wonderful songs, a riveting plot, beautiful setting, costumes, and powerful dialogues written by themselves under the able guidance of their teachers made it a very good play, indeed. It was a truly spectacular performance
