Colts Complete Clean Sweep against Crescent School

The Prep School Colts teams performed remarkably well in their annual fixture against Crescent Model Higher Secondary School Lahore. They won all five games across various sports: athletics, basketball, cricket, football, and hockey. Their dominance was evident, as they outplayed Crescent School in all departments, endorsing their superior skill and teamwork. Profound congratulations to the Sports Department and all the players.

Our Colts Whitewash Sadiqians in Sports

The Prep School played the Annual Sports Fixture against Sadiq Public School from October 1st to October 4th October 2024.  It was a home event. Our Colts swept the board by winning all games on their way to the thumping triumph. Here are the results:

  1. Athletics: Aitchison College won the Athletics by 63-47 points.
  2. Basketball: Aitchison College emerged victorious in the match by a score of 30-15.
  3. Cricket: Batted first Aitchison College scored 159 runs after losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Sadiq Public School were all out for 100 runs in 19 overs. Aitchison College won the match by 59 runs. Sufiyan Siraj was the top scorer with 104* runs, not out.
  4. Football: Aitchison College came away winning the match by 4-0.
  5. Hockey: Aitchison College won the match by 12-0. Muhammad Zunair scored 04 goals and Rana Sami netted 03.

The Sports Department, coaching staff and our boys deserve the due admiration.

On the Waves of Success - Swimming Gala 2024

The Junior School held its Swimming Gala on Friday, 4th October 2024, with great enthusiasm and fanfare. The event commenced with the arrival of the chief guest, Mr. Aftab Arshad, a former Aitchisonian and champion swimmer in the 1980s. Our young participants exhibited their talent through various swimming strokes, creating a thrilling atmosphere. At the end of the event, the Principal, Dr S.M. Turab Hussain and the chief guest distributed medals and trophies to the winners. They lauded the efforts of our swimmers.  The pool's blue water, colourful balloons, and background music by the school choir enhanced the event’s ambience. The parents’ applause and support added colours to the celebration, making it a memorable day.

It was an evenly contested final with each team fiercely fighting to achieve the ultimate glory. In the end, the Godley House emerged victorious.  All kudos to the players of both teams who demonstrated undying resolve, grit, determination and fighting spirit throughout. The final score:

Honouring the Prodigies of Shirazi House

On 2nd October 2024, Shirazi House hosted a formal dinner uniting resident faculty members and distinguished guests.  The worthy Principal, the Bursar, the Headmistress Senior School, and notable alumni were in attendance. This event gave our students a unique opportunity to engage with influential figures in various fields. As guests arrived, they were warmly welcomed into the House's elegantly decorated dining hall, fostering an atmosphere for meaningful dialogue. Each guest was seated with a group of talented prodigies, encouraging lively discussions on topics ranging from academics to personal growth, and offering valuable insights and motivation. Shirazi House is an emerging boarding house with promising young gentlemen full of talent and potential. The evening was wrapped up with a sincere toast highlighting the vibrant spirit of these young minds, who engaged passionately with the distinguished guests, demonstrating their eagerness to learn and grow in days to come. 

Screening of Emmy Award-winning Documentary: Journey of the Universe

On 1st October 2024, Aitchison College hosted a screening of the Emmy Award-winning documentary Journey of the Universe, attended by forty boys. They had the unique opportunity to engage with Professor John Allen Grim, a Yale School of Environment professor and recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in religion and ecology.

The session began with a foreword by Professor Grim, who spoke about the film’s production and its conceptual development while addressing key segments of the narrative. He later engaged with the students in a lively Q&A session, answering questions ranging from Darwin’s Theory of Evolution to the multiverse theory. Prof. Grim’s enthusiasm was evident as he thoughtfully responded to each question, highlighting the relevance of both science and religion in tackling global challenges. He expressed deep admiration for Aitchison College, sharing his interest in visiting Lahore and the institution in the coming months to continue the dialogue on climate action and the role of religion in fostering environmental stewardship

 

Mathematics Tessellation Competition

The Prep School Maths Department held the Mathematics Tessellation Competition on September 26, 2024. More than eighty-two students from E2, M1, and M2 classes participated. The primary goal of the competition was to help students identify mathematical shapes and master precision in measurements and angles. Students worked with regular polygons and applied the concepts of proportion and symmetry in crafting tessellation designs.

This event showcased our students’ creativity and artistic skills while strengthening their mathematical abilities in key areas such as counting, measurement, estimation, drawing accuracy, area, perimeter, and more.

Tech Savvy Shares Skills

On September 30, 2024, Mr. Ian Murphy, a renowned expert in computer science and the automobile industry, visited Aitchison College with a group of government officials. The Principal, Dr. S. M. Turab Hussain, warmly welcomed them.

Mr. Murphy discussed the importance of cybersecurity with the students and the faculty.  The delegation admired the college's lush, serene surroundings and modern facilities. They were particularly impressed by Aitchison College's rich history and our undying commitment to preserving our heritage while embracing contemporary education.

This visit has deepened Mr. Murphy's understanding of the college. It also underscores the role of education in shaping future leaders, emphasising the collaboration needed between schools and industry experts to foster a safer digital world.

 

Aitchison Scripts Stunning T-10 League Championship Win

The College cricket team visited Army Burn from 23rd to 27th Sept 2024 to participate in the T-10 League Championship. Our team breezed into the final defeating all the teams on its way.  In the final, Aitchison played against Cadet College Burn Hall. The hosts were bundled out at the meagre total of 52 runs. Our College easily won the final match by 08 wickets. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Mr. Majid Khan, the legendary test cricketer who distributed prizes, certificates and gave away the winning trophy to our Aitchison.  The following boys performed exceptionally well:

K6 Inter-House Cricket Friendly Match

On Friday, 27th September 2024, an Inter-House cricket match was played between Saigol House and Sikander House. Both teams competed with great enthusiasm and energy. Ultimately, Sikander House emerged victorious. The match was filled with enthusiasm and excitement from start to finish. Well done to both teams for their brilliant effort and sportsmanship!

Cartoons Reform, not Ridicule

On September 27th, the Prep School Art & Design Department organised a talk with the renowned journalist and cartoonist Mr. Jawed Iqbal. He has over fifty years of professional experience. Known for his intense, but creative cartoons, Mr. Iqbal is now an iconic name in the print and electronic media. During the inspiring discussion, he candidly shared his knowledge and experiences. Cartooning is more than the art of ridicule and mockery.  It is creativity of high order, he firmly affirms. In the end, he drew some marvellous caricatures and cartoons.

Artisanry Unravelled

The Prep School Art & Design Department arranged an internship for three M2 students. The students visited the furniture production unit of the famous Kalamkaar, the premium furniture maker. During their visit, they learnt the various stages of furniture production, like cutting, assembling, and finishing. In addition to furniture making, they were equally provided with the chance to try multiple hands-on activities. They left with a newfound appreciation for the craft.
