Rivalry on-field, camaraderie off-field: Founders' Day Sports
“There is no friction between us, (Aitchisonians) there is only (sports) rivalry…” Edward VII
The most anticipated Founders’ Day Sport, 2025 was celebrated on Sunday, 23rd March 2025. A flurry of activities was arranged on the occasion. Reveille of the bugles heralded the arrival of the Chief Guest, Mr Arshad Nadeem, the famous Olympic javelin athlete. The College Equestrians welcomed him. In the horse-driven College Buggy, he looked regal. He was warmly welcomed by the worthy Principal Dr S.M. Turab Hussain, the Bursar, Mr Khalid M. Noon, the Heads of three Schools and other dignitaries. After seeking permission from the Chief Guest, the Head Boy of the College led the March Past of all Houses. Different sports competitions ranging from athletics, cricket ball throw, ladies' musical chairs, staff tug of war, and tent-pegging followed. Many records were smashed and new ones were made.
Sports Day is the great fete of the year attracting families and old Aitchisonians from Pakistan and abroad. The MCG (Main Cricket Ground) looks stunning. Tents, and tepees with buntings stand stratified. Here everything is available from the College’s Souvenirs to the hot cup of tea, and coffee with cookies. In the end, the winners were given away the premium cups, medals and trophies. The evening ends with a tea treat arranged on the verdant lawn of the principal’s residence.
